Danish halakhic authority. He was born in Altona. He served as rabbi at Emden from 1728 to 1733, when he returned to Altona and set up a printing press. He regarded Shabbetaianism as a danger to Judaism and engaged in a prolonged dispute about this movement with Jonathan Eibeschutz. He wrote studies on halakhic subjects as well as polemical pamphlets.
